Was reading an article about combat drones, and it occurred to me that in 100 years we moved from fighting wars by charging at each other with exploding sticks to fighting each other with flying robots. What made this possible? What conditions caused the acceleration in technology that no other centuries experienced? The answer I came to was the discipline of physics. Without the laws of physics being understood, not a single piece of modern technology would exist today. So physics is always a big deal, I’m cheery to say.
